JetBlue has rolled out its first fully integrated biometric self-boarding gate at JFK International Airport in New York.
JetBlue, which has a codeshare agreement with SAA, has implemented the service at Terminal 5 at JFK, allowing passengers to board quickly with the dual-lane self-boarding gate, which uses facial recognition technology to verify passengers with a quick photo capture.
This latest development complements the airline’s existing self-service options, including interactive kiosks, self-bag-tagging and self-bag-drop facilities.
The implementation comes after the airline’s successful trials of the service at airports in Boston, Fort-Lauderdale and New York before the official roll-out. No pre-registration is required. Passengers will step up to the camera for a photo match before making their way to the aircraft.
