With the recent resignation of President Mugabe on 21 November and the inauguration of the new president Emerson Mnangagwa, large crowds are still expected in urban areas. SAA and Fastjet have announced no service interruptions with their operations between Johannesburg and Zimbabwe. Guests are still urged to allow extra time ahead of their flight for check-in and screening procedures‚ as those may take more time than usual.
As part of a statement issued by SAA spokesperson Tlali Tlali advised, “We are closely monitoring the situation and are in constant liaison with the relevant authorities both in South Africa and in Zimbabwe to enable us to make appropriate operational decisions.”
Although demonstrations have so far been peaceful, business travellers are advised to exercise caution and avoid large gatherings and any demonstrations.
